Repair or replace?
If the posts are sound, repair. If more than about a third of the posts are rotted or loose, a new fence often costs less over the next ten years.
What do repairs usually involve?
- Replacing rotted or snapped posts

- Straightening or bracing leaning runs
Who pays when the fence is shared?
Under California Civil Code section 841, the law presumes neighbors share the reasonable cost of a boundary fence, with written notice first. We can quote it so both owners see the same numbers.
