Why does the HOA matter?
In many communities the association sets the fence style, stain color and height, and wants to approve changes before work starts. City approval and HOA approval are separate.

What do we provide for approval?
A site sketch with footage and height, the material and color, photos of the existing fence and a written description. That covers most architectural review forms.
What about shared walls between homes?
Party walls and perimeter walls are often owned or maintained by the association, not the homeowner. We check who owns the wall before we quote work on it.
Irvine villages and their standards
Many Irvine neighborhoods are governed by associations with architectural guidelines for fence style, stain color and height. The city notes that your HOA may have its own approval process, and for condominiums it asks for a copy of the HOA-approved plans with the permit.
